Audi TT8j (2011) In Car Sounds upgrade Advice

Hi all — looking for some PistonHeads wisdom please.
I’ve got a 2011 Audi TT (8J) that’s entirely stock and still running the Audi Concert head unit. The audio is… fine, but a bit flat, and I’d like a simple, low-cost upgrade to get decent occasional music without going down the rabbit hole.
A local place quoted ~£2,500 for head unit + speakers + sub, which I just can’t justify for this car. I also don’t need Bluetooth (I’m happy via OEM 3.5mm AUX in the centre console).
What I’m thinking:
• Replace the two OEM front door speakers with something better
• Keep the Concert unit
• If needed, add a small/discreet aftermarket amp between the Concert and the speakers
Questions for those who’ve done it:
1. Best-value front door speaker options for the 8J with the Concert unit? (happy with “buy once, cry once”, but not silly money)
2. Do I need an amp to make it worthwhile, or will decent speakers alone be a noticeable jump?
3. Any fitment gotchas (impedance, depths, adapters, coding, etc.) I should watch for?
4. If an amp is sensible, any recommendations for a compact, hidden install that plays nicely with the Concert?
I’m aiming for cleaner sound and a bit more punch, not “wake the street” volume.
