Hello all

I'm prepping my Merc 190 for sale, so thought I'd swap the more modern Sony radio with the original Blaupunkt. Should be simple enough, unplug ISO connector and aerial then plug into other radio. All seems to work, except the electric aerial. On initially plugging in it pops up a little way, then retracts not to be seen again until I unplug and plug in again. When it again pops up the little way, then goes back into hiding. I've plugged a volt meter across the aerial control cable and ground. The Sony gave a constant 4.7v, the Blaupunkt very briefly went to about 5.3v, then drops to 0v.

It seems to me that either the Blaupunkt expects to work very differently with the aerial and just provide a brief rise signal/pulse, instead of a constant signal. Do you know if there is a setting somewhere to change the aerial control signal (not seen it in the manual), or is it a problem with the radio. I've tried another Blaupunkt and it seems to work the same.

The radio is a Montevideo RCR87 radio/tape player

Thanks in advance

Todd

I've got it up!
Turns out I was suffering from being over tidy last time I did the wiring.
The there is a blue/white feed from the factory wiring block that disappears into the dash and doesn't reappear with the rest of the wiring as it heads towards the boot and the aerial. I'd plugged the ISO block blue wire (aerial feed) into that and piggy backed the new feed for the aerial onto it. It must have been doing odd things when it ended behind the dash and the Blaupunkt is more sensitive than the Sony, resulting in a fault being registered until it is unplugged. Disconnecting the original blue/ white wire worked.

Now what was i supposed to be doing instead of this quick job.

Well you got it fixed before anyone had a chance to reply, so that's probably a good result!

Just a bit unimpressed with myself turning a 5/10 minute job into more like 5 hours!
