Waze alert sounds on Android phone.

I use my I Phone car play on my PCM compatible car for Waze, but my other car PCM isn't Car Play compatible so use an Android phone with a data sim. On my IPhone alerts for things like pot holes are spoken but on the Android I get a high pitched loud chime, which is awful.
I have checked the settings and both seem the same.
How do I switch settings to have alerts such as pot holes and level crossings to voice on Android?
