Do I need a new battery for parking mode on a Dash Cam?
Discussion
Hi all
I have just bought a new
• VIOFO A329S front and rear dash cam
• HK6 hardwire kit install to fuse box
However when I called a local installer he said the parking mode wont wont for long ie maybe an hour or 2,3 or 4 and couldn't say how many hours I would get unless I bought a new battery from him for over £400.
I spoke to the manufacturers and they said they have never heard of the battery cutting off and preventing the Dash cam not working, they said it did happen on the rare occasions with bikes that had smaller battery's but they had never known it happen in cars.
I called a couple more installers locally and they said I dont need a new battery as parking mode wouldn't switch off as its not draining the battery atlewsr not to am extent that parking mode would cease to work even after hours and hours of parking with the ignition off as the power its using is so minimal from the car battery.
Can anyone give me some clarification on all this?
Do I need to buy a £400+ battery for parking mode to work without it ceasing to work after an hour or a few hours?
Do I need to ask the mechanic installer whoever I decide to set the battery cutoff setting to 12.4V? Or no need?
My car is a 2022 Dacia Sandero.
Thanks all

It depends on the car and the battery. For reference the OP is referring to these types of batteries for parking mode: https://www.cen.uk/collections/battery-packs
On my diesel car with a dirty great diesel engine
and 700-800Ah battery I'd have no problems attaching a parking cam. On my Mums Jazz with a battery barely the size of a childs shoe box I'd think twice as it only holds 200-270Ah.
