2018 BMW F30 LCI speakers

Hi all
So i blew a front door speaker in my F30, i decided to 3d print some adaptor rings and replace all 4 speakers with some JBL 2 ways and for some reason the bass is no awful and distorts at very low volume (It never did this with the old BMW paper mids)
My car has the basic spec stereo, which i believe has subs under the front seats but no tweeters like the Hi-Fi or Harman Kardon spec have.
Can anyone advise why the bass has all of a sudden started to distort since replacing the door speakers with new 2 way speakers (The old speakers were just singe mids with no tweeters) I figured this wouldn't be a problem as i would expect the new speakers have built in Crossovers.
