There is a TM button and a concealed aerial fitted to a used car im buying. The dealer knows nothing about it so is it any good, how does it work and how can I get a subcription or should I not bother???

Some Vauxhalls had this fitted around 1999/2000. The speaker version only gives warning a few miles before a jam - quite often not adequate.

I'd suggest ringing TM and asking them for an evaluation licence

I've got one of the dash-top boxes that does that same thing, although I've not renewed the subscription for over a year now.

It could be quite useful, but only if you knew the alternative routes or had SatNav to help you out, the first time I used it was on the way to the NEC, it mentioned stationary traffic at the M25/M1 junction, so we hopped up the A1/M instead, later finding a massive accident caused a 2 hour jam. So in that instance it was great, but if you're stuck on the M25 only to be told of how long the delay might take, it gets a bit infuriating.

IIRC is was £30 a year for the renewal, so if you travel a lot it could well be worth it.

As it happens I've just had a renewal letter from Trafficmaster with some details that might be handy for you.

Their renewal number is 08705 561 712 and renewal is £30 (inc) for a year or £55 for two years, all can be done over the phone.

To renew a built-in unit you'll need the model and registration number as well as the unit license number (to get this press button twice to go into manual mode, then twice again for license mode, the unit will then speak the number).

No. That's not what's in the car.
what you have there is the navigation system, smartnav.

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=23&t=58227

Press the button and it will put you through to an operator.

Yes I bought it and it was smartnav.

I disabled it as it was very annoying and got Maserati to enable the OEM system
