So as the title says, I need help.

19yo Son wants to get a sat nav - he is looking at a:

www.blaupunkt.com/uk/7612201300_main.asp

But he also wants a snooper/speed camera detector and blue tooth (like a Parrot CK3000) to hook up to his phone for hands free - both of which I also want him to have!

He had a Road Angel Navigator 6000 but sold it as it didn't cover Europe. He liked it apart from having to put a destination into it to get speed camera warning, so would like a sat nav that doesn't do/need that.

Is he wanting the impossible?

So over to you good people for advice.

Thanks in advance.

Firstly, if he's concerned about speed cameras at the age of 19, tell him to slow down before he kills himself.....and perhaps someone else as well.

Now, as regards detection devices, it won't be long before such things are illegal. However, some countries (including the UK) allow 'safety camera' information to be displayed on SatNav maps.

For an excellent SatNav with 'safety camera' database facilities (90 days free, then updated by subscription), street level mapping in Western Europe and major area mapping in Eastern Europe, plus Bluetooth phone and even MP3 capability, you need look no further than the Garmin nüvi 660.

When I was 19, I remember scrimping and saving to buy an FM radio/stereo cassette player and decent speakers for my MG Midget.........

Oh dear....

Anyway, Nick thanks for the Garmin info, but as for the rest of your post I've decided not to 'swallow the bait'.

TOMTOM GO710 gets my vote everytime, it does everything you ask and in my opinion is still the easiest to use.

i am not clued up when it comes to the sat nav stuff, but regarding the snooper i would not bother. by the time you have a warning your nicked. this is a better product if you want to save your license from radar traps www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=532729
