Tom Tom 510 Battery Life Problem

My Tom Tom Go 510 which is almost a year old now will not take a decent charge.

12 hours on charge for 20 mins battery life and even then the cigarette lighter won't charge it properly.

Hoping Tom Tom will fix it but wondered if anyone else had experienced the same problems ?
