Advice on Sat Nav Purchase

I am driving round france and italy and need a good sat nav. Good battery life is essential, as is an ability to find satellites! Any ideas?

The excellent Garmin nüvi 660 has the ability to provide weekly-updated safety camera information in those countries where this is legal. The service is by subscription once your initial free period has expired.

Subscription costs (from the Garmin website) are:

Belgium + Luxembourg £29.00

France £29.00

France + Benelux £49.00

Netherlands £29.00

Spain + Portugal £29.00

United Kingdom £39.00

So, yes, you can obtain safety camera information for France, but not for Italy.
