In case this may help anyone - been hassling around with this device for 2 days now and finally found a solution.

Purchased this device as it has lifetime free trafficmaster and will reroute etc etc.

It recieves the trafficmaster updates via the FM sideband and comes with a small wire aerial that you are supposed to sucker onto the windscreen of your car.

However since the Mondeo is a mobile faraday cage, and the fact that in the UK the trafficmaster signals are as weak as a weak thing, I failed to recieve any form of signal even inside my house with the aerial as far out as it will go.

If you buy one of these things and get a hopeless or nonexistant trafficmaster signal, cut the end off the FM wire, and splice it onto your car FM aerial either at the car stereo end or, like I did, inside the roof at the mount.

Get a strong signal within 3 minutes every time smile

Yes, the power cable/traffic receiver system is quite poor and often takes ages to get a signal. Also the cable itself is very untidy.

What Garmin should do is to produce a 'wired in' solution:

The box could be hidden away - with just a single cable and plug to the normal nüvi mount.

Please, Garmin?

Would be a lot better

What irritates me the most is Garmin claim they have "never heard of this problem" when I phoned them, however a quick search on Google would suggest otherwise...

They do it's called a GTM 10! you can order it direct from their website https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=6395&t... though I could only get it in Dollars. Even the UK site takes you to the US for accessories.
