Well Im now seriously looking into picking up my first sat nav in a few weeks, and I did make a post here before but the search wont find it.
I'm just looking on the net at the moment, and will purchase from a website to save some money !

The Garmin 660 or 670 pop up a fair few times in posts but at the moment Im not sure if I can afford to splash out £300 or so for one...although my birthday is coming up so I could treat myself.
I need a VERY reliable map database, camera database and if possible, do any detect radar and laser ?
I'll be doing a lot of driving in Spain, and most of my driving will be avoiding motorways as I want to enjoy the landscapes that Spain and Europe has to offer. So I'll need to find petrol stations and perhaps hotels easily to.

So what would your top 5 be ?
(if possible to bare in mind value for money to)

Appreciate the advice !

edit:
Size, MP3 aren't important to me.

Garmin Nuvi 250 offers Euro mapping and speed cameras - £199.99 at Halfords.

Tomtom one europe offers the same, with speed camera detection available for an extra £20 - £199.99.

Both are excellent units, you do get more for you're money with Garmin.
I've always preferred the layout with tomtom though.

Do you know if there is some kind of comparison chart online for these things ?

Also what about this Enigma database that Snooper use, wont that be better than the ones in the TomTom and Garmin ?

If you pop into halfords, their brochure features the most popular Garmins & TomToms, There is a comparison chart on the back.

If it's a sat nav system you're after you really can't get any better than those two.
Their speed camera detection is still excellent, obviously they wont pick up the actual handheld guns like snooper & Road Angel, just the staionary cameras. Although they can alert you of the locations in which they operate.

The other difference you'll find is the actual speed limit display. Both snooper and Road Angel indicate how fast you're going, and what the current speed limit is - while also alerting you of cameras.

You get a 90-day free trial, after that I think it's £40ish/year...

yes 90 days free (I just started mine) then £39 pa, I'm still evaluating it as I have a roadpilot which works very well but I need to know the Garmin database is good before replacing it, a few good long trips should show how accurate it is.
