Lost in France, well nearly
Discussion
Part of my job means I go to France twice a month, either Paris, Toulouse or Le Havre.
On Tuesday I flew out to CDG Paris and picked up the hire car, before driving down to the hotel in Versaille (near to our offices in Plaisir). about 1 hour 20 minutes drive through Paris (subject to traffic) I always take the company Tom Tom 910 as a navigation aid.
Wednesday morning I drove to the offices about 30 minutes drive, After a day in the office I was about to start my journey back to the hotel and the sat nav wouldn't switch on. I have no back up map and I am the sort of person who gets lost going to the local shop. Either by luck or instinct I eventually found my way back to hotel. All last night I couldn't sleep worrying about finding my way into work (I had a very important meeting with customers) then finding my way to the airport which involves about 5 different motorways the periphique and numerous D roads.
I set off at 7am to ensure I was at work for 9am I arrived at 7.30am and had to wait 1.5 hours before everybody turned up. after the meeting I declined lunch and set off for the airport, the flight was at 6.15pm
Again by luck or instinct I arrived at the airport faster than using sat nav. I didn't have a clue where I was going, I ended up going around the Arc de Triumph. Now that is scary
The good news was, I managed to change my flight for an earlier one and got home 3 hours before planned.
I think the sat nav run out of battery as the ciggy lighter wasn't working in the hire car and I didn't take the power cable charger. I have tried it in my own car but it still wont switch on. Am I right in thinking that they must be a certain amount of charge in the batteries. I will leave it on electric charge for a couple of hours tomorrow at work. I have tried the reset pin button and its not that.
