I've got a Garmin 660, also fitted in the car is a Parrot CK3100, the Parrot is paired with my phone and not the Garmin. Travelling up the M1 last weekend a little red triangle appeared on the Garmin which when tapped informed me of some traffic delays due to roadworks and an accident. I can only assume that, as it told me about an accident, it was getting live traffic alerts from somewhere. Had it detected my phone and used it to get the alerts ?

Interestingly there were a few occasssions when I noticed the Parrot seeingly lost connection with my phone, but after a few minutes reconnected itself. Could this be when the Garmin was using the phone to get traffic alerts ?

Being a bloke I've obviously not taken the manual out of the box smile

The 660 has an RDS traffic reciever attached to the power cable that it uses to pick up traffic master information (The thin lead with two suction cups). Stick it on the wind screen and you get traffic alerts free for life. Traffic master update it every 15mins.

The only thing the unit uses the bluetooth for is the handsfree.

Thanks Kung Fu. I use it a fair bit but I've just never had traffic updates pop up before. Any idea how accurate or up to date the traffic master info is ?
