Thanks for those who posted and sent pms to me regarding the choice of satnav system to suit my needs. I bought a TomTom 1 XL six weeks ago and it has proved just right for me.

It seems to me to be as close to magic as it is possible to get, with warnings of turnings and volume dependant on speed. Re-routing is very quick. I'm really pleased with it. The only criticism I have of it is the dreadfully poor mounting system. I sit a long way from the screen and it is virtually out of reach unless I pull myself forward off the seat.

Apart from that, I'm impressed.

Like you I have just brought a Tomtom well a 520 to be exact and so far am impressed.

I do have an issue with the mount though, its cheap and rubbish and keeps falling off.

I really want to mount mine on the dashboard and am thinking of buying a tomtom dashboard mount.

Regarding mounts, I recommend Brodit mounts, they clip in behind trim panels leaving no damage smile

There are usually a few options to choose from for each car too.

There's a few on Google, e.g. http://www.dsldevelopments.com/

Also, I would stick the www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk speed cameras on there smile
