Is there a way to set us a route that incorperates more that one via point?

I would like to be able to set a route say A-B-C-D-A. Or is it just not that sophisticated?

I don't think you can on a Garmin.

If you have MS Autoroute you can convert it to the garmin format if that helps.

AFAIR there's either a new model, or a software upgrade, coming from Garmin allowing for multiple waypoints. Ping Garmin direct.

Don't think you can on the Nuvi, although you can on some other garmin models eg Quest or Zumo.

I spoke to garmin and one of the Nuvis due out in Dec 07 was capable of doing this. it would be the only one.

I think you can on their Basic Quest mark 1 or on their handheld Etrex Vista C.

I'm going to source one of these Nuvis for myself.

The new Garmin Nuvi 7xx series includes itinerary planning - this is the main change from the 6xx series. The Garmin will calculate the optimum order for your stopovers, unlike the equivalent TomTom feature, if that is relevant to you.

You can set up a route on Mapsource on a laptop (I did not know about the Autoroute option) and transfer it to your Nuvi - but you probably have to buy Garmin maps for the laptop to be able to do this.

You don't have to buy Garmin maps for your PC if using Autoroute. There's a nifty little conversion utility available as a free download that will take your Autoroute .axe file and convert the waypoints into a .csv file that can then be loaded on to your Nuvi.

Unfortunately unless you have one of the new 7xx Garmins, you can still only use one waypoint at a time when navigating.
