Hi guys im going to be getting a tom tom on tuesday and want to know is tom tom XL worth the extra outlay over tom tom one? european mapping is a must as I plan to use it in Europe. and also is it worth getting. also does european mapping include the whole of europe or just western europe? also are the traffic models the ones that come with live updates or do they all do this?

Also where can one get the best prices right now!!!

thanks

If your car has a windscreen thats a fair way away from the wheel then it would be worth it, but I found in smaller cars, mini,306 that kind of size the normal one was perfectly easy to see and worked very well to boot.

The TomTom traffic modelsinclude an FM TMC service which is widely accepted to be rubbish (especially in Europe). That's TMC in general, not TomTom's implementation of it.

TomTom do their own traffic service which connects to your phone using bluetooth and a data connection from there. Much better and more accurate, tells you how far to the queue and how long the delay is. Then gives you the option to route around it if quicker. For that I think you'd need the XL (or a 520,720 or 920) as I don't think the One has Bluetooth?

I got my 720 from The Link as it was cheapest at £193 delivered.

I may be telling you something that you already know but I bought a TT 1E last week only to discover that TT had removed the Itinerary planning facility!

Traded up to the 720 which has - Halfords are doing a good deal at the moment £169.

To get Eastern Europe as well as Western I think you have to buy the top of the range 920 (which also has North America and one or two extra features).
