RDS-TMC receivers

Have they got over the problems with being unable to reeive a signal on traffic conditions?

I am tempted to get one to run with a new TomTom One EU but reports on their 'down' time and need to tow jodrell bank to get a signal are putting me off.

I have one, + Tomtom 720.

Also have RDS-TMC on a built in factory satnav.

Running them both together often gives different results. Sometimes one receives when the other doesn't. Sometimes both receive, but give different advice.

Depends a great deal on the quality of the FM information, and CAN be useful, but not 100% reliable.
