euro TT camera download
Discussion
I downloaded the TT speed cameras for Europe (and the maps) last Summer for a trip to France and Germany.
Saved me quite a few times as the camera locations differe from the UK. ie; not that easy to spot, placed in hidden locations etc. You'd stand no chance without a sat nav with these loaded.
Not tried the GPS forum databased as the TT one is cheap enough (£25) and includes all of Europe as standard, although that's not clear on their web site. I think if you only have UK maps it only downloads UK cameras, whereas if you have Europe maps it downloads Europe cameras.
Hear teh GPS one is a good database and includes the mobile camera usual locations, whereas the TT does not. Hope that helps a little.

I think they do confiscate anything that has speed camera detection on it in France and other Europes.
They certainly do in Geneva, where I lived for a couple of years.
I keep mine low down at radio level so passing plods etc can’t see it from behind. Putting it on the windscreen is asking to be stopped and interrogated.
They aren’t stupid, they know most Brits travelling into France have sat-navs with camera detection. Best to keep it out of sight.

Just in case you go for the 'official' TomTom cameras - I just came back from a week in France and found the database was spot on. There are loads of new cameras in France now and only one was missing that I spotted. My database has not been updated for a month or two because my subscription needs renewing, so the missing one could well be on now.
Whether you actually need to worry about cameras on the continent for now is another matter, it's the boys in blue hiding in the bushes that are a bigger risk, and a satnav can't help with that.

You can get one of those clips that mounts it to the air vents. Just do a google check with you model mumber there are load of good one's out there for around a tenner.
Or buy one of those 99pence drink holder things that clips onto the inside door, they;ll hold it if you clip off a couple of the prongs (on the 99p holder) with some pliers. Got mine from Halfords for 90p.

In France it's only laser detectors/jammers that are illegal, GPS sat nav's with fixed camera alerts are fine. They certainly do in Geneva, where I lived for a couple of years.
