i bought a 720 just over a month ago and the sucker on it is useless it falls off the screen a good 4 or 5 times every day and im worried about it getting damaged, not to mention the distraction of having to stick it to my windscreen again, is this a common issue on them and is there anything i can do about it to either improve it or to get them to supply another one?.

Try cleaning the screen and the suction mount - then push on firmly. Mine stays on for days without problem so long as it has stuck on firmly in the first place. You can tell from the outside whether it is sticking firmly. The mounts are readily available, I think for £20 including a spare power lead.

I got one of those vent clips for mine. think it was 3 quid on ebay. It's really easy to clip onto the vents and off again and stops those sucker marks on the screen, famous for being noticed by villans wanting you satnav.

Other advantage of having is on the vents are

-Low down so can't be seen outside car
-not in field of vision so can be kept quite bright at night
-Can't be seen by tailing plots in some european countries where camera databas illegal

Wet the sucker a bit.

Mine's only fallen off once, due to me not fixing it properly.

Could always go the Brodit route. I felt the sucker on my 720 was flimsy at best although it never fell off. I bought a Brodit A pillar clip for my Disco 2 and it works a treat for not a lot of cash.

They're good, but I wouldn't call Brodit cheap.

Use one for my HTC Tytn II....there's the dedicated holder, and the car specific mount.

Mount...twenty quid for a bit of moulded plastic is on the north side of rip off.

Ah but there is a difference between "cheap" and "not a lot of cash". I agree that for a bit of moulded plastic they are not cheap but as far as I'm aware there is no alternative.

In the scheme of things with car ownership then I stand by my comment that £30 is not a lot of cash.

Does that gaget have plugs for the power/TMC reciever on the mount itself? Or do you still have to plug them directly into the 720?

A quick look at the site suggests that you can have a fixed power lead as opposed to the lighter socket. I'm not familiar with the 720T but I guess a quick call to dsl will provide enlightenment.
