I'm just about to load up with a Tom Tom One for £90 at Amazon. But I can't work out if it comes with the suction doofah for mounting it. Does it come with one or do I need to get it as a extra?

New ones do. They're alright, but ebay knock offs are actually better

Thanks - it was just that I got the 'customer who bought... also bought... screen:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000LAXF60/ref=...

Which made me think all I'd get for £90 is a thingy with no way of fixing it.

Blu-Tack?

Best prices here:

I must confess the £90 is quite tempting from Amazon or Laskeys - but I quite fancy the widescreen versions.

Dubious Amazon practice..?

Seems odd.. but all TT's *should* come with the screen mount as part of the package.

And don't lose it, I did and it cost me £20 for a new one packaged up with a charger which I didn't need. 20 sheets for a bit of plastic.

TT1 very good though. thumbup

They were advertising it for £94.99 as part of their 'Must End June 28th' sale. So I was quite happy to leave it and then find it was only £90 smile

However someone at Amazon may have been busy all weekend shelling the holders out of the boxes as the technical specs read:

Hi,

All new TomToms come with a mount appropriate to the model you're buying. The reason you see a customer also buying a mount kit is that people like me who have more than one car want a mount in each car so that only the unit itself has to be moved.

Regards

Looked back through my ebay items and the links gone as it's quite a while since I bought it

Like someone suggested, I also bought a second holder because of a second car. The standard TomTom one's OK, but the one I got from ebay was a suction clamp with tilt and swivel able to be locked by turning screws

The clamp sticks to the windscreen much better, especially in warmer weather and on more curved screens

Well the beastie arrived today and now I can sit in a chair and watch it drive my route at 36mph. Amusing for a minute or so anyway!

I'm hitting mounting problems. The windscreen of the S-Type is so far forward that I'd have to mount it high, next to the rear view mirror, which is OK except that I'd have an ugly lead dangling down smack in my line of vision to the fag socket.

There's a handy ledge where it sits nicely upright, but the idiots designed it with the power lead underneath so that won't work either, doh.

Question is: Can I use a magnetic fixing or will it mess up the little electronic hamsters I can hear whizzing round inside?
