Bought the above unit a few weeks ago to use when my old office TT Go 700 is being used by others.

Really struggling to like the Nuvi......it takes an eternity to lock onto satellites, was plotting some strange routes in France last week and worse of all, always seems to be 100 metres or so behind my actual position on the road. The position marker on the screen moves jerkily compared with the smooth constant movement on the old TT.

Had a few panic moments in Rouen which is not the best place to traverse. With the old TT, never had any real problems as a quick look at the screen told you exactly where you were when confronted ahead by 2 roads close together....the Nuvi is always slightly behind the real position on the road which causes some hairy moments and rapid lane changing.

Anyone else have the same problem?

they're not as good as tomtom's really - the new ones are good (255w would be the most current model of yours) but still a bit "me too" rather than giving any good innovation.

screen refresh is 1fps on the 200/250, 3fps on the 205/255 (like tomtom's always have been)

my brother used this unit in his camper during le mans classic and jaunt around france, on the way to our campsite from st malo he recorded a max speed of 235 mph !!!!
didnt think he went quite that fast even when he dropped down a gear when an enzo sped past him....
on our return from italy we met up to travel home together , we met up just north of tours, curious i checked his max speed again...this time i was in shock...
293 mph.......
now obviously before plod come to get him, said camper will probably do a max of 95mph...
he did say the sat nav unit was losing signal, and had lots of probs on trip, only 4 wks old so back to halfords it will go.
is 293 mph a record ?

Interestingly, I bought a Tom Tom XL 22 on Tuesday at Eurotunnel. It's the latest model and cost me £173 ish.
Used it in France and Belgium for 2 days......drove over 400 miles with no problems. A really great piece of kit and the "safety" camera warnings saved me quite a bit of cash. In Belgium, the scameras are not painted yellow and are very small compared with ours and painted battle ship grey.
Reckon the TT has paid for itself already.whistle
