As title really - in my wifes Zafira my TT 910 takes almost exactly 15 mins to lock onto a signal, then it kicks into life. On any other car its much much quicker (almost instant)
Type of windscreen ? Just odd that you can almost set your watch by it - but it is a real pain if you are somewhere you dont know you want it to work straight away !

If it's of any consolation, my TT can't get a lock at all in our 207cc. It's been suggested that this is because the athermic windscreen stops the signal getting through, although I don't know whether that's true or not.

Sometimes there can be an issue if the windscreen is heat reflective

Tomtom sell an external aerial through there website which should sort it out.

Yup - Frog car. Happens in Renaults as well. It's the windscreen. Had it happen to me with a hire Pug. I slung the TomTom on the side window and just used the voice instructions!

Totally agree - You've either got a UV reflective windshield (will have a slight blue tint) or one with heated one (will have regular vertical lines that are very thin and faint, but can be seen against a white background.
A few people are talking about the TomTom 910 sat nav on review websites saying the same thing.

Athermic windscreens usually have a clear/unprotected part immediately over the rear view mirrir, so thats the best place to locate an auxiliary aerial.
