Looking in halfords today at there satnavs and nearly all of them had extra charges for updates on cameras etc.
Im looking for one at the moment and it will be for my TVR so won't be used much and i want one with camera and speed detection.
Is there a satnav that has free upgrades as i only need it for occasional use.

You can get pretty much all you want for free, or next to nowt, on interweb. Don't pay any subscription fees. I don't have any links myself right now, but i'm sure someone will be along in a minute with all the infos.

Try googling something like 'pocketgps' or something like that. There are a couple of brilliant websites that'll give you all you want. I download the cameras for a fee of £1.99, i just do it a couple of times a year.

Also, google Tyre, which is a prog that allows you to create routes (or itinaries) on google maps and then save them on your Tom Tom, it has cameras and other POI's too, but this is a dutch site and is more euro orintated. Brilliant programme though.

The becker unit has 12 months speed camera alerts for free, but that's the only one I'm aware of...

Most subscription charges aren't a lot of money anyway - between £20 and £35 or so for a year, far cheaper than a road angel or snooper, and also cheaper than a set of points...

The Snooper Strabo S370 and Snooper Syrius are both currently available with free subscriptions to the unique Enigma Camera Database. These are both award winning products. Most of the databases you can download from the 'net aren't updated very often and soon become out of date. The Enigma database is managed and updated daily. This is particularly useful if you're not using your unit very often and going to new places. You can simply download your unit the night before and know you are bang up to date. You can buy it direct from Snooper, or a quick Google search may get you a better price.
