Killed my TomTom

I killed my TomTom One at the weekend, worst thing I was in the middle of France but the wife done a fantstic job and got us back to Le Harve in plenty of time for the ferrie.

As for the TomTom I cracked the screen while trying to put it somewhere safe :-), also I have messed up the power port. Q for all should I purchase a broken device on Ebay thats has a good screen for £20 or should I bight the bullet and get new.

Seeing as it's currently broken you're unlikely to make the situation worse by taking it appart. So if I were in that situation I'd probably have a go at taking it appart very carefully and then assess how easy it would be to change the broken parts. If you mess up while taking it appart then it's no great loss.

I had a similar(ish) problem before. My mate's PS2 packed up, so before we binned it we took it appart. It was easy to see the burned circuit board. Turned out it was the power supply board. Ebay+£10=Parcel from asia with new powerboard. An hour or so later the PS2 was fixed.

Summary: Have a go. :-)
