Was looking at the above and noticed it had live updates via the sim, but also noticed people taking about downloading camera database via pocketgpsworld.
If i got the 540 would i need to suscribe for live updates or would i use the pocketgpsworld updates.

Also whats the voice control function like on the 540, and can you use this for making handsfree phone calls via bluetooth

Thanks

If you don't intend to subscribe to the Live service at £8 per month you would probably do better to get one of the X30 models which do not have this feature (eg 530). However, there is one other disadvantage of the 530 compared to the 540 - the sound quality is much better on the 540 than on the 530.

If you do subscribe to Live, you are supposed to benefit from the best camera info, including warnings for mobiles which other users of this and Road Angel devices have reported to be currently operating. Other benefits are supposed to include the best traffic data and local fuel prices. You would not take the Pocketgpsworld database as well as Live. It is early days to know whether the Live services live up to the promise. However, you get a free 3 month trial period, and you can cancel at any time.

As to the functions of voice control, sorry I cannot remember whether it will control the phone. There is certainly a very wide range of functions which it can control. The manual is available online, but I could not find this information in it:

Personally, having had two different cars with voice control systems to control Bluetooth phones, I would far rather use a touch screen to control the phone. Tomtoms give you quite good screen control over the phone.
