Hi,

I'm thinking it's time to get a sat nat unit. It has to be a portable one, able to switch between cars easily and, well, that's about all I absolutely need, but I'm keen to find out what's out there. Budget is flexible as long as it's not something cutting edge that's going to be half price next week.

Would like:
  • User friendly
  • Reliable up to date routing (a mate's sat nav tried to direct him down a briddleway to find my parents house once!)
  • Switchable speed camera warnings
  • Ability to plot to a place on the screen (or co-ordinates) rather than an address as such (guess most of them do this?)
  • Lane guidance or whatever you call it (but not if it's stupidly expensive still)
  • Possibly traffic monitoring (but likely to be expensive?)
  • Failing the above easy selection of alternative routes for traffic avoidance
  • European mapping (again, depends on whether this comes at extra cost)
Think on the whole I'd like something 'fire and forget' or where I can pay for one off updates, rather than a subsricption.

But most of all, are there any particularly good deals on at the present? Cool features to play with are always good, but I'm mostly looking for a basic sat nav at a good price.
