Has anybody "upgraded" from a Garmin 2610 to a 2820

For various reasons I'm tempted to upgrade my trusty 2610 to a 2820 - not interested in other Garmins as I've got RAM mounts for the 2xxx series for both bike and car use, plus I've got the 2610 connector hardwired into the bike and my understanding is that the 2820 uses the same power connector.
Mostly the reason for the upgrade is that I'd like to get the custom POI functionality and possibly use a TMC receiver with it in the car, plus 3D mapping would be nice but isn't really a deal breaker - I've got 3D mapping on my phone's TOMTOM and I often switch that off.
Does anybody have any experience with this "upgrade"? I'm not really interested in other models due to the pre-existing "infrastructure".
