S2000 TMC trouble

Recently, my S2000 has not been picking up any TMC info.
I have checked the arial is plugged into the correct socket (which it is). I have not knowingly changed any of the settings. Are there any settings that I should check in case TMC has accidently been turned off?
Its 18 months old, so I imagine that they wont want to mend it free of charge. However, for an expencive unit that has hardly been used I feel that it has failed early in life. Does anyone have an experience with how much a repair would cost?
Finaly, how critical is the position of the arial in the windscreen. I dont think this is the problem as it hasnt changed, but have always been interested in whether it matters how / where you stick it on. (i.e. verticaly, horizontaly etc)
