Garmin Nuvi 255W - Can I do better?
Discussion
Her Indoors has decided that she wants a SatNav and has tasked me with selecting a suitable unit. It must have Western Europe coverage and she wants a widescreen, but she doesn´t need Traffic Alert, Text-to-Speech, Bluetooth, MP3, camera or other non-nav features.
The Garmin Nuvi 255W ticks the spec boxes and can be had for about £100 from Amazon. User reviews are mostly good.
TomToms are popular but are 50% more expensive and some reviewers have had issues with reliability.
Grateful if anyone thinks I can do better for the money.

i got a garmin while working in northen ireland it works great and easy to use and i have been directed to a few single track roads in the past but just ignore that instruction and it will recalculate the route the time it takes is normally made up by the extra speed you maintain which is better than struggling down a narrow road or track scratching you car or meeting someone else comming the other way.
only moan is if you go to there website to try update maps info etc bit confusing well to me anyway!!

Hello poison,a lot of people say that but have you not thought that maybe if that track wasn't there, you would not have been taken that way. Also just going past the track and ignoring it ,how far out are you going to be taken when way back another nav may have taken you a different way not calculating the track? Just my 2 pennoth ,not for me i'm afraid.only moan is if you go to there website to try update maps info etc bit confusing well to me anyway!!
