I have an iPhone but no Bluetooth in the car and the fitted sat nav is dreadful. Do I buy a TomTom with Bluetooth (and if so which one would you recommend) or do I buy the iPhone cradle and TomTom app?

In three years time will you still want to use your iPhone or upgrade to something else. The TT is a standalone unit, you can lend to friends and family. My TT is 3 years old now and still does a great job. I'm not sure my iPhone would be working in three years time!?

I'd go for the standalone unit as you can easily resell it when you come to upgrade. You can't do that with the iPhone software as it's tied to the phone.

Have a look at Co Pilot for Iphone, awesome software, works perfectly for £25. Beats the TomTom, read the reviews.

I've installed it yesterday and it works very well.

Cheers everyone so far for all the advice. The Co pilot does not solve my hands free issue but do agree that it is great value but please keep the advice coming.

In that case buy CoPilot and invest the difference into a proper Bluetooth parrot kit. That would be hardwired in and always on, quality is superb.

If you use a tomtom as a handsfree that would mean you'd have to set it up for every journey for your phone. Not ideal.

Forgot to say there is no need to buy the TomTom cradle. The unbuilt gps works really well and can lock down a gps signal quicker then a TomTom.

I just bought an iPhone car holder of eBay with a charger for ten pounds.

I haven't tried the iPhone Tom Tom app, but reviews on the App Store aren't too positive - to do with accuracy of the reception and speed of updates.

Personally, I went and bought a stand-alone sat nav device.

The CoPiot is the best Iphone app no question.
