Updating a tomtom

I have a rather old tomtom one, thinks its one of the first ones, is there any way I can update the maps on it as it is missing parts of newer roads including the A30 and A1 which can get pretty confusing when it thinks you are driving through a field!

Well you can buy the latest maps using the TomTom Home application, but for the cost of that you might as well buy last year's new model and get the latest map thrown in along with a faster processor and other extras.

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to download an update that I can add to the memory card...

As Mr. 5 says - you buy the latest maps direct from TomTom, which are downloaded onto your TT.

Here's the link to the TomTom website where they sell the GB & Europe map on an SD card (for your TomTom Go/One/300 or whichever you've got) for £80.

You may be able to find the same version (8.40) cheaper elsewhere (probably £70-£80 for the latest) or if you can make do with a year old one you can probably find them for £60-£70 each.Alternatively you can buy a whole new TomTom device for £80-£90.
