Garmin! How the hell??

Ok I'm struggling, I have a nuvi 300 which I bought some years ago new & have just purchased the Europe update files. I can load different countries on to the sat nav with no problems so my question is, how do I load a region on to an sd card? So if I were to go to Spain I would have France loaded on to the sat nav it self & spain loaded on to a sd card.
The Garmin loader suggests this is possible but I can not figure out how, I can't get the loader to recognise an sd card let alone install a map onto it. I am really scratching my head with this so any help would be very appreciated.

Well after a lot of searching & finding nothing to suggest how, I came across a page for Garmin webloader so thought I'd give it a go. Problem solved & now have the parts of Europe I need on an sd card.
I can't help thinking though that Garmin could offer more help on their site, I couldn't find anything to suggest that I needed to download the webloader programme. So for anyone having the same problem, there's the answer.
