Hi Guys

What do I need to improve the signal on my Tom Tom when my car has the anti glare reflective winscreen ?

Thanks in advance,

Have you found that this is definitely a problem? My son had a Clio with a heat reflective windscreen. Whereas he needed an external aerial with an older satnav, he found that a newer one worked ok without the external aerial.

Assuming you do know there is a problem, have you looked for an unprotected patch of screen? There is sometimes an unprotected patch at the side, and you can position the device there. Sometimes there is an unprotected patch behind the mirror, but that does not help you much! If you still have a problem, you need an external antenna - £14.67 from the TT website. You will then need to work out where to run it to, possibly by a side window.

Hi Ware,

Not had the issue yet but I have read it can stop the Nav working - which would be tedious.

I am having a new screen fitted Monday and specified the UV one but if it is going to be a problem then I will ask for a standard one. Since you wrote I have found that there is a gap behind the mirror that doesn't have the filter and that newer Sat Nav's have an uprated 'reciever' that will make use of this gap.

I think I will go ahead and get it and like yo say, the external antenna's are not expensive.

Thanks

Hi.

I took the car out for the first time today after having the UV screen fitted.

It took a little longer to find and fix on the signal - probably 3 to 4 minutes but I can live with that.

Im guessing this newer SatNav technologly can find the signal through the little gap around the rear view mirror.

So, a positive endorsement from me.
