Is the extra screen width really worth the extra money?

Its not as if I'll be watching movies in 16.9 format on the thing so does it really make the image clearer?

I am over 50, so your eyes may be different. For me, having used both a TT One (small) and more often a Go (same size as XL), it makes an enormous difference. I have no problems following the route instructions on the One. However, I find it difficult to read the data numbers at the bottom of the screen (arrival time, distance to go, etc). The larger screen is also much better when browsing the map for any reason - such as reviewing the proposed route, or looking for a destination or proposed feature on the map.

I have to say that the small TT One is noticeably better from the point of view of blocking less of the screen. However, I always recommend a 4.3" screen.

Thanks for that, my close up eye sight is fine, can read a screen in the work vehicle that has small text on it no problem.

Just need to research the models variations I keep finding, like a Go being the same as an XL? Tom Tom live, iq routes etc...

Maybe I should buy a map!

The Tomtom range seems to go One (small unit), XL Classic (wide screen, same software as One, probably obsolete), XL IQ Routes (similar unit, more flexible software), XL IQ Routes Live (internal sim, Live services for £8 per month), Go X50 (adds Bluetooth handsfree and Voice Control, reads out place/steet names, it's a different hardware unit with a different mount system, there are other little benefits).
