Does anyone know if the car kit is compatible with "made for ipod" head units (i.e. ones that can read and display the contents of an ipod such as an Alpine iDA-X100) and can still be plugged into the head unit via USB?

Is the USB port on the mount fully featured or just for charging? I can't seem to find any info on the net on this particular topic?????

So, for those of you interested the tomtom car kit works just fine as described but it's not compatible with any kind of external ipod interface. The mini-USB port on the holder is for charging only. I really think that this is a glaringly stupid omission by tomtom as so many cars/head units these days have full ipod interfaces.

For info, when I connected up my iphone directly to the head unit's ipod interface, it could read the music on the ipod, and the tomtom audio (whilst fading the music) also comes out over the main system which is great.

I got a refund on the tomtom mount and bought the Navigon mount instead as I didn't notice any difference in satellite reception, even in central London. Go figure.
