Tom Tom 500 problems ?
Discussion
I have a TomTom (500 GO) which I've had for 5 faultless years.
Now it keeps shutting down while on route........ Yes it's pluged into the 12V socket and we have the green power on.
Is the internal battery on it's way out?? can this be changed? or is it a bin job and go buy a new one?
Tom Tom experts out there, your thoughts please.

You "can" get replacement batteries, just do a search on google or ebay. They are less than £10.
Changing the battery is not as simple as it is in say a laptop, some dissembly is required. If you are happy taking electronics apart it might be worth a go.
Will it fix your problem, no idea, but if the car is providing power then essentially the internal battery is not being used anyway.
When was the last time you did a reset?
It may be worth trying that anyway.
BTW - Have you regularly kept the maps uptodate?
If not, maybe now is a good time to get a new one anyway.
