Why are there plenty of 4gb SDHC cards but no standard ones?

Standard SD cards were good for more than 4gb, but never produced.
I'm sure 4gb ones were. Am I wrong?
If they were, they weren't standards compliant I'm sure 4gb ones were. Am I wrong?

Sorry for a small thread hijack, does anyone know a supplier of small capacity SD carsds, no bigger than 128MB, the only ones i can find are stupidly priced.
They are needed for software updates in certain TV's, they cant read a card larger than 128MB for some strange reason.

4gb seems a bit much for knocking around your way.

I buzz around all over the place, old boy.
I've had a TomTom 720 for some time, but only just discovered TT's online updates. Tried to do it, but the thing appears to have run out of internal storage, about 2gb, so hoped to try a bigger SD card in case the extra was needed.
But TT doesn't like SDHC cards, I believe.
