Pretty much any of them I thought but TomTom defintely. My TomTom Go720 (that completely died yesterday) has been doing it across Europe for at least the last 3 years.

I posted earlier then deleted it as I wasn't sure and our family Go530 (which I don't use myself) died last week too.

From memory, I think it has the limits as long as they're on the map - so it's not 100%. If you exceed the limit then your actual (well, what TomTom thinks is your actual) speed changes colour on the display. You only get a audio warning if in a known speed camera location.

If what I've written above is accurate, then you certainly couldn't rely on it.

Agreed. My TomTom goes 'dong dong dong' when you hit 4mph over the limit.
Annoying but possibly licence-saving and you can turn it off.

4 mph over may be too much. I heard of a lady here in N Wales who was done for 32 in a 30. Retired cops wife, she was offered the propaganda drivers speed awareness course and took it to keep points off her licence.

I've "heard" of people being done for doing 31MPH but no-one has been able to provide a link to press story etc. I bet you can't provide a link to your story either.

My TomTom allows you to choose the warning sound. I have mine set so that a lady's voice warns me to "Check speed."
There's also a cuckoo sound or a rather bored voice saying "Traffic camera," and many, many more.

My old TomTom shows the current speed and speed limit, both turn red if you exceed the limit by a couple of MPH, might have the option to make a sound but I've not looked in the options.

Seems pretty excessive, Unless you drive completely different cars of a regular basis you should be able to tell/"feel" what speed you are doing or you could just look at the speedo every once in a while?

Are you on 9+ points or something?

It's not a "story" sir. I don't do "stories" I was told by the ladies husband who is a retired N Wales senior cop.

BTW, his wife was also a cop.

Snooper do a speed limit warning system. MySpeed Aura. Google for info.

I have asked them if it warns before the limit as it is too late when we are in it. No reply far.

They must have been thrilled that N.Wales police ignored the accepted guidelines for excess speed.

NWP in the past also appeared to ignore the ACPO Code of Practice by aiming laser guns before forming a prior opinion. One was aimed at me when I was doing 25 in a 30. Detector said Laser Alert and ( I have also seen this myself) by crouching down behind the door of a patrol car so that just the speed gun and the top of the cops head was visible. Brunstrom signed off the Code of Practice ( they are not guidelines as claimed by some) which said laser gun operators must be in full view of the general public and the target vehicle.

With a handle like Deva Link ( Chester Link? )you may know one site where this has occurred. On the A55 heading west where the road goes over the River Clwyd by the turn off to St Asaph. Junction 27A. I have seen them there several times gunning drivers going down hill with a rising road ahead of them.
