What file format does garmin save it's custom routes in?

As above really got a convertor to convert itn to garmin but there 6 different file formats it can be so does anyone know or will I have to try trial and error??

Shimmy, i take it this is for sunday? I seem to remember this being asked before one of the early summer hoons and there is a bit of internet magic to do it. But i can't find the thread with the link in at moment.

That is defo geeky but thank you for taking the tiem to find that for me!! so i take it from that "geek" that if a save it as a .gpi i will be ok???

My biggest thing that i cant fathom out is that on my nuvi i have a few hoons saved, but when i plug it into my computer i cant find those hoons on the sat nav, even though they are saved and named and everything!!!! or maybe its just me!!!
