garmin satnav problems

i have been trying to update my satnav via pc , and i keep getting

usb device not recognized

usb device has malfunctioned and windows dosnt recognize it

this happens even when i only have the garmin cable plugged in .

have tried on another pc ,exactly the same

also have tried a usb hub in same port and that works

could it just be the garmin cable , i have tried similar cables but to no advantage .

any ideas please

I had a similar issue with a Garmin i3 a while back - the USB port had come loose from the motherboard inside.

Your computer may need a piece of software called "Garmin Communicator" before it will er.... communicate with your satnav.
Get it from the Garmin web site. HTH

Not sure that's true. I don't have any software called Garmin Communicator on my PC, and both my Garmins connect without any problem at all.

To the OP, have you tried using a different lead?
