how to update sat nav.

having recently got a new car, (new to me), that has an Alpine media staion fitted, model no,IVA D511RB, this has a sat nav with it, and I would like to find out how this can be updated.

I have found online the operating instructions for this model, but no guidance on how to update the navigation system itself.

does anyone one here have any experience with this type of unit?

Just saw this post Clive while looking for something else (hooking up cameras/HDD to the screen) - let me know if you need anything on this still as I've just had a load of this Alpine stuff installed in the Tuscan....
