I have an issue with my TomTom.

I recieved an offer to get a new map and updates for a year at a decent price so I went for it. Yes I know I'm a punter.

Trouble is now it's been downloaded and installed my TomTom says it doesn't have a map installed. When I operate it via my computer it is there and it shows up on the device. It will even copy onto my computer.

Anyone had similar problems? Any suggestions?

First off reset the TomTom, press and hold the on/ off button for about 15 seconds until you hear the drum roll, at this point release the button.

If the reset fails there is a PC utility called "Clear Flash" available from the TomTom.com web site in the support section, download and run this THREE times then see if the device can see the new map.

Neither of the above steps will wipe out any settings on the device - Mike

Check in tomtom home to see if there is an application update. I downloaded a new map recently and got exactly the same problem on my 530. Raised a case with support, turns out I needed to also download the new software/app they were offering as the new map wouldnt be recognised without it.

I had avoided downloading the new version of the app as in the past new apps have caused crashing problems. Luckily on my 530 this wasnt the case and its now working properly

Unfortunately my 550 wasnt so lucky and the new app now makes it reboot once or twice on every journey so its on the way back to tomtom under an RMA for replacement.

TomTom app upgrades are worse than microsoft patches, TomTom appear to just launch an app then get the users to find all the faults.
