BMW Z4 2004 Sat Nav DVD - HELP!

I have just bought a 2004 BMW Z4 with the Mark IV DVD Sat Nav (Flip up screen on the dashboard). It has come with a 2005 DVD and I want to upgrade it to a newer DVD. There are plenty on offer on sites such as Eb*y but I don't know which version will be the one for me. Any help would be appreciated as BMW want £145+ for a new one.

If you want the latest official one (2010-02 High) then you can take your old DVD to the dealer and get a discount.

Otherwise you'll just have to look out for a knock-off one on ebay (if you want to pay) or torrent sites (if you don't).

the power of the web.... Don't look for the 'High' system.

AFAIK the Z4 was only fitted with either Business or Professional, so you need to look at the disc you've got for one of those key words. From a useage manner the old Business was a turns only display while the Professional shows the map.

ETA: just read it again - Mk4 I think the other poster may be right - it could be 'High', again, you need to check the disc you've got.

if it is the MK4, then it is the same as my 330Ci, and I use 'hacked' discs bought from ebay etc and they have always worked fine, and inlcude 7 digit post codes and speed cams etc. They only cost about £20-25.
Forget about oem BMW!

That doesn't help then.... Is the system in the dash or in the boot. If it's in the dash what does it say under the Nav drive?

I had an original 04 dvd and just got a replacement from t'interweb. It came with a software upgrade too, and shows safety cameras (with an audible warning).

It's all very well saying just buy one from ebay - it could get expensive as there are 3 possible systems not all of which are compatible......

That's the problem....knowing which one to go for. The NAV is in a compartment between the seats, it's a Mark IV I believe

I would have a search on BMWland then - mine's a 1 series and has the Pro Nav drive in the dash. I don't know much about the Mk4 system.

From the instructions I had I think it'll be system 4. If you have a decent seller, the model and year may be enough. My original DVD says BMW Road Map Europe high DVD 2004 - 1 and it's from an 04 Z4.

Just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU to all of you....managed to find a 2011 High + V36 Update for the unit on Ebay and it's on its way.

• UPDATE* - Received the 2011 Disc and Upgrade. Tried them last night and I now have an updated Mark IV unit with 2011 maps! Also managed to get bluetooth working as well. Very Happy PHer!!

Very good. Got a link? BT is good imo. I once had a phone which transferred the SMS as well. Later ones don't seem to.
