tom tom-garmin aux out
Discussion
i need a new sat nav,my snooper has stopped working.im looking at the newer garmins and tom toms but none seem to have an aux socket which i use to plug into the car radio.does anyone know models that have aux out?how do you listen to your units,i hate the sound of the speakers on the units.i also use the sat nav on my bike so the aux out is vital for the intercom.
With the TomTom Go-x40 and Go-x50 models you can purchase an accessory mount that adds the line out connection socket to the rear of the mounts shoe, the same applies for the Go-1000. To be honest I prefer to use the Bluetooth audio output to the car which negates the extra mount and avoids having wires all over the car. Bluetooth audio output isn't possible with the Go-1000 or Go-1005 devices for some strange reason.
The lower spec TomTom XL and Start devices don't have a socket and no way to add one to the device without some serious messing around, neither do they support Bluetooth.
My Garmin 3790T doesn't have a line out socket, its not too difficult to add one to the mount though along with a drop resistor to reduce the volume to a realistic level, doing this does invalidate the warranty but you are only modifying the car mount not the actual device - Mike
