Gents,
I've got a 4 year old Garmin Nuvi 250W I bought a new SD card 2 years ago for Europe.
Going down to Spa last year the screen would just loose all the road detail...i.e. just the pictogram of a car on a white background.
I've tried to google their website, but for some reason it wont load up. The Europe office is only about 5 miles away.
What's the concensus - do I just buy another or try and get help? I've noticed that the internal battery is not taking a charge. The unit does work here in the UK when plugged into the car.

It's worth trying their web based support (placing a ticket - you get no automated response email but they do get back to you within a couple of days max). At the worst they'll just tell you that you're out of warranty, but they may still give good advice.
I tried that on Tuesday and again today as I'd heard nothing. Then I decided to give up and take it back. Having gone back to Garmin from TomTom I have now corrected that error and will not repeat it.Just by way of an update - and to comment on good service from Garmin.
I went to the UK head office, which is just up the road from me in Southampton. I explained my issues, and the techie guy said he could offer me a re-furb'd unit loaded with the latest maps for Europe for £75.
No brainer really, battery renewed, all the latest software updates and it looks as good as new.
Thanks for all your advice.
