I'm looking for a new Sat Nav and am thinking of a Tom Tom.

Does anyone have experience of using the lane guidance system? Is it reliable? What type of junctions does it work on?

Also I would like to have the Brian Blessed voice feature as well as others. Is this supplied or does it need downloading? Is it even in use yet?

Any first hand information would be welcome.

I have lane guidance on my Tom Tom and find it very useful, especially as I often drive to and from London so advance warning of an upcoming lane change is good.
As for voices, I've had John Cleese and Billy Connolly voices on mine but they soon start to grate so now I use the default "Jane" voice all the time.

ETA: I only use it on motorways and it will come up whenever there is a turn off, either showing you which lane to be in to take the exit, or which ones to stay in if you're not taking the exit.

something made me "lol" about your post. started off serious and then in a very dry way the Brain blessed voice function was a deal breakerlaugh

If God had a voice, it would be the voice of Brian Blessed.

I downloaded a Jamaican for mine - I've not got a clue what he says most of the time, but when you arive "evryting aaaar-reee!".

I also have Cartman, but it ranges from amusing to annoying so don't use that one much.

Mostly I use some lady I downloaded off TomTom for free - its not the default woman, just some lady with incredibly clear English.

I used to have Cartman too but it does get very annoying very quickly.

I now use one of the standard Portuguese ones and have the volume set very low. It's ideal as I hear gentle whispers of "efff ef effff eff, ef efff ev ef" and then I know that I need to look at the screen.

Are you sure you didn't download the fast show's Channel 9 one by error? Lol
