Garmin KNA54/KVT-526DVD Update

Has anybody been able to locate and install any updates for the above Garmin Unit?
It comes as the navigation module for the Kenwood KVT-526DVD in dash DVD stereo/Sat-Nav and is also known as the Kenwood KNA-G620T module.
The preloaded maps are dated 2009. I have spoken with Garmin who pointed me at Kenwood, who so far have failed to respond to any emails, calls etc.
Apparently it runs on the V12 mapping system and I have seen SD cards available for Garmin units running this but am loathe to try and load them without some sort of confirmation that it is possible.
