TOMTOM Via 110 Europe £120 at Currys
Discussion
Currys has this model for £119.99, reduced from £299.99 apparently
Is it because this is an old model that has been replaced?

I want to buy this as a 70th birthday present for an Alfa nut who is going to drive his classic Junior down to Italy this summer.
So usability, big screen and European maps are important, traffic data etc is nice to have but not the main priority. I've had Garmin and Tom Tom in the past (before I got a car with factory sat nav) and found the TT more intuitive so prefer to stick with this. Any ideas?

You need to read up on the new PC interface these devices use its called "MyTomTom" it can load third party POI files to the device (one at a time) but the unit won't accept or work with itineraries at the moment and no way of knowing if TomTom have longer term plans to add this missing funtionality to the device.
You can't back up the device to your PC, you can't add voices to it, if you want to purchase a map for say America or Aussy etc then you can't add it to the device as the functionality to do this is missing from the unfinished "MyTomTom" PC interface.
I would look for a Go-750 Live from Amazon as they are only £150 and are a far more capable device - Mike
