Took The RoSPA Test Today .........

...... and got a Gold!!!
To say I'm chuffed would be an understatement. Knowing there are three levels of pass just seemed to make it more of a challege. Would have been dissapointed with Bronze, happy but only happy with Silver, but over the moon with the Gold!
I'm not putting down Bronze & SIlver but as a IAM Senior Observer it would have been an anti-climax.
Anyhow, well happy bunny

What made you choose to do the RoSPA test after being in the IAM?
What made you choose to do the RoSPA test after being in the IAM?
It was the next logical step. I want to find out more about the IAM diploma and I am going to do some high performance courses, Ride Drive looks favorite at the moment. I'm then looking to advance through the Club Driving ( www.clubdriving.co.uk ) standards. You don't stop learning, you reach higher standards and hopefuly get better. I like to work towards this type of test to keep the standards up.

He he ... well done again (see the clubdriving forums ....)
Indeed, I got Gold back in Dec, after a half day with Bespoke.
I was outy last weekend with Catherine, one of the othe clubdriving mentors who lives near me. I had a couple of hours with her the week before Bespoke, and she commented that there was a very marked difference in my driving.
I put that down to ...
Her advice
Marks advice at bespoke
Confidence having got gold.
Like you, looking forward to moving up the ranks ...

IAM diploma
Well done Paul. RoSPA Diploma?? - awarded after a five day course on Advanced Driving Instruction. IAM Special Assessment?? - a demanding assessment by a senior examiner, resulting in a written report and a percentage score. I think you are right to be planning on coaching with one of the so-called high performance instructors - I have nothing against Ride/Drive or many other excellent coaches, but because of the benefits of club membership in due course why not go straight to one of the coaches for HPC or clubdriving?

You have MPower too? Since when??
(Looks like this roll-out project may be put back again so it may not be next week after all

Hi Paul,
Since the Cupra's gone and the M3 took its place!
We now have an M3 for road instruction. You don't want to see what it costs and how many hoops you have to jump through to insure an M3 for 17 y.o. passplus and advanced tuition!!
Now have two M3s available for track training - should also be doing some work with "75 experience Ron" with a bit of organisation and luck.

CSL? That would be a light the blue touch paper move!
No, both E36s. We ran one last year at a few trackdays and it is just such a good tool for the job. Now I have another. Took some time to find - eventually got an immac. 1 owner FSH car. Almost a shame to track it. Been up and down the country looking. One car - advertised on here - bent truth further than even Yuri Geller could manage. Wouldn't dare say which one but it was the opposite of black! And it was a 300 mile round trip. The ad really should be removed on the grounds of total lies.
Anyway back to RoSPA. Presume you enjoyed the drive? I like RoSPA, but then, as you know, I instruct it! One of the interesting things about teaching driving is that there is the advanced camp and the performance camp and the two rarely coexist. This middle areas is where I try and live. I had a very amusing discussion after a couple of laps at the ring last Oct when we took a couple of bikers round. One was a bit perturbed by my driving through the car park. Afterwards he related thinking "Oh no he's going to drive round doing pull-push IAM steering". Of course this lasted to the barrier before track approaches took over. The thing is the drive should always have a discipline/style and the two really can go together. Not that you may get much agreement at the local IAM meet, unless it's the biker meet!
Be interested to hear your thoughts if you do move across to the mentor bit. Keep me posted.
