hi all, my Volvo v60 which despite completing over 150,000 miles is still running pretty well has yesterday started putting up warning signals on the dashboard.

yesterday whilst driving it a warning came up on the dash stating " reduced engine performance". but I carried on driving the car and could not deduce any change in the performance whatsoever. it seemed to accelerate like normal and the automatic gearbox changed up and down without any problem.

today I nipped to the shops and halfway there the reduced engine performance warning came up but again no change in the performance as far as I could deduce and the warning went off shortly afterwards. when I came out to the shop and started the car the reduced engine performance warning appeared again and then the engine stopped and another warning light came up in the top left hand corner with the little picture of an engine and check engine wording.

anyway, I restarted the car and drove it home without any issues although both warning lights are still on.

I will book the car in with my local garage on Tuesday and no doubt they will connect it up and check for fault codes etc. but as I have to wait at least the entire bank holiday weekend and probably well into next week as they are usually busy before anybody looks at the car I just wondered if anybody has any thoughts or ideas on what is likely to be causing this?

oil level is good, battery is good and fairly new, car starts easily on the button and the engine sounds normal.

thanks

I am sure you already know this but that combination of warning lights/error message could be any one of probably over 100 things.

With the information you have given us we have precisely 0 chance of helping you, especially without even an idea of the car specifics as I think there are likely to be at least 30 different engine/gearbox combinations that could be in a "V60".

good point

The car is a 2015 diesel D4 with the automatic geartronic gearbox.

I just wondered if anybody had seen this before and knew off the top of their head that there were a couple of things worth checking in the engine bay.

given that the car starts, runs, performs as normal and changes gear without any problem I was vaguely hoping that it could just be some kind of loose connection or hose or something that I could easily check or rectify.
